Also, Vienna has its Walk of Fame! But you will not find there any prints of Austrian actor Christoph Waltz, the famous holder of two Oscars. He got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The stars on the walk in Vienna are not dedicated to famed actors, but to world-famous composers, conductors, musicians and opera singers. No wonder, there is hardly any other city that is so much connected to classical music! All those music personalities lived or worked in Vienna at a certain period of their lives. And all of them have left some tracks of art here.
The first 70 stars appeared in 2001 (among them stars of Antonín Dvořák, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven or Bedřich Smetana). The walk is called „Musikmeile“, it starts at the Theater an der Wien on the street Linke Wienzeile, continues along Wiener Musikverein (Viennese Music Association), Staatsoper (State Opera) and House of Music, along Kärntner Street until Stephansplatz. The stars in 100 x 100 cm are made of natural stone.
Next time you visit Vienna do not look at shining shop windows only but also watch your steps on the sidewalk with stars with famous names.
